As Lead Integration Architect, you’ll set the direction for integration across Justice Digital, Data and Science, and increasingly across the wider Criminal Justice System, working with partner organisations to enable better service and data connectivity.

What you’ll be doing

In this role you will:

  • Set and champion the integration architecture across JDDS, aligned to wider technology strategy
  • Shape the vision, design and evolution of the integration hub as a reusable, scalable platform
  • Define and promote integration standards and patterns (APIs, event‑driven architecture, messaging)
  • Guide and assure integration designs to ensure solutions are robust, reusable and loosely coupled
  • Reduce duplication and encourage reuse of shared capabilities
  • Influence technical decisions and identify opportunities for simplification and transformation
  • Mentor architects and engineers, building integration capability and strengthening the architecture community
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

What we’re looking for

You’ll have strong experience in:

  • Integration architecture patterns (APIs, event‑driven, messaging, async integration)
  • Designing and evolving integration ecosystems (API management, service‑to‑service comms, reducing point‑to‑point complexity)
  • Secure integration (authentication, authorisation, identity e.g. OAuth2 / service‑to‑service auth)
  • Integrating legacy and modern systems to enable gradual modernisation and decoupling
  • Translating technical concepts clearly across multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders

Relevant experience (experience in some, not necessarily all, areas)

  • Cloud: AWS
  • Infrastructure as code: Terraform
  • Containers: Docker, Kubernetes
  • CI/CD: GitHub, GitHub Actions
  • Language: Python
