The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is recruiting Associate Data Governance Managers to sit at the heart of how the UK’s most important data is collected, managed and safely used.

- Managed responsibly and legally
- Treated as a valuable national asset
What you’ll be doing
As an Associate Data Governance Manager, you’ll work across different parts of ONS, depending on business need. Your work may include:
- Supporting the Data Governance Office, helping embed data governance strategy, policies and standards across ONS
- Working with data owners, analysts and communities of practice to ensure governance is understood and applied
- Supporting the Data Acquisition function, helping negotiate and enable access to sustainable data sources
- Helping put in place governance frameworks for safe data sharing and usage
- Supporting documentation such as memorandums of understanding, business cases and policy guidance
- Advising on data protection, ethics, security and legal considerations (including GDPR)
- Translating between technical and non‑technical audiences, ensuring shared understanding
- Supporting reporting, assurance and performance tracking related to governance effectiveness
You’ll be involved throughout the end‑to‑end data life cycle, from acquisition through to use in statistics and research.
