Job summary
The DVSA are continuing to strengthen security capability across the business. This role will form a part of a growing Cyber function continuing to embed and maintain an assurance and resilience function protecting our Services and customer data.
Our work also supports the DVSA Data Strategy which has recently been refreshed. This sets the direction for making the Agency an evidence based and data driven organisation whilst maintaining an appropriate level of security of our services and data.
You will work with the wider Security function as well as supporting Service Owners and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that IT Service Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans are in place and tested regularly. As an IT Service Continuity Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and testing our continuity plans, ensuring resilience across our infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments. You will work closely with Cyber Teams, IT, risk managers, Service Owners, and business continuity teams to minimise downtime and mitigate risks.

Job description
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Creates the testing plan for the DVSA and ensures this is undertaken or reports on the risks associated with deviation from the plan.
- Use of technical knowledge is key to ensure that technology is understood and can be translated into a business capability for Service Owners to sign off.
- The role manages the assessment of business criticality of systems and works collaboratively with the Agency Business Continuity Team to ensure that DR and BC plans and tests are aligned and inform each other.
- Lead creation and delivery of the DR Test Schedule for the year using risk profiling and strategic objectives to inform prioritisation where needed

Person specification
Required Experience:
- A proven and adaptable communicator and listener, you will be highly skilled in the delivery and absorption of information, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues at all levels. Motivating a diverse range of people or teams to deliver challenging and sometimes conflicting objectives.
- Planning and organising skills are key to this role including seeking agreements and resource from across the Business to inform an annual test plan.
- Experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) planning and assessment as well as designing and implementing proportionate BC/DR recovery strategies to treat risks stemming from the Business Impact Assessments.
- Experience of working as part of a virtual team across multiple disciplines and bringing together business continuity aspects to the role of DR.
