Job summary

Across government, digital platforms and cloud technologies are fundamental to delivering reliable, secure and user-centred services. As organisations increasingly depend on enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, robust DevOps practices are essential to ensure systems remain resilient, scalable and capable of supporting continuous delivery. At Ofgem, digital services play a critical role in protecting consumers and supporting the transition to a cleaner, fairer energy system.

Ofgem is undergoing an ambitious digital transformation. Within the Digital, Data and Security Services (DDSS) directorate, we are continuing to strengthen our Salesforce capability and modernise the way we deliver and manage enterprise applications. As part of this journey, we are investing in automation, cloud engineering and DevOps excellence to support high-quality, secure and efficient service delivery across the organisation.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer (Salesforce), you will play a key role in designing, implementing and optimising Salesforce DevOps capabilities across Ofgem. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, embedding automation and quality assurance practices, and supporting the delivery of secure, scalable Salesforce solutions. Working closely with developers, architects, product teams and security specialists, you will help shape how Salesforce services are delivered and operated, ensuring consistency, compliance and reliability at every stage of the software lifecycle.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps professional to influence delivery practices, champion automation and contribute to the evolution of a critical enterprise platform.

  • Integrating code quality, security and compliance tooling including Salesforce Code Checker and SonarCloud to support high-quality releases.

  • Ensuring Salesforce delivery aligns with Ofgem's cloud engineering, governance and security standards.
  • Contributing to technical communities of practice, sharing expertise and mentoring colleagues to build capability across the organisation.
  • Monitoring and improving platform reliability, delivery velocity and operational performance.

We are looking for:

A highly capable DevOps engineer with strong Salesforce platform experience and a passion for automation, engineering excellence and continuous improvement. You will be comfortable working across multiple technical teams and balancing delivery demands with governance, security and operational requirements.

You will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience delivering and supporting enterprise-scale DevOps tooling, infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining Salesforce CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps principles, automation, release management and cloud-based delivery practices.
  • Experience integrating automated testing, quality assurance and code analysis tools, including Salesforce Code Checker, BrowserStack, Playwright or comparable technologies.
  • The ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable automation and deployment solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing technical decisions and driving best practice adoption.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex deployment and service issues.

Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (or the ability to obtain within six months of appointment) are expected.

Experience supporting Salesforce deployments within government, regulated or enterprise-scale environments, particularly those involving complex integrations, would be advantageous.
